Curt Carroll

President

Curt, began his soccer volunteering in 2001 in Parker, CO as he coached his oldest son’s team. In 2002 he and his family were transferred from Colorado to Washington. They found a home in Gig Harbor. He continued coaching for Peninsula Athletic Association. In 2003 he moved to Harbor Soccer Club to coach a small sided boys’ team. January 2004 he was contacted by Harbors Vice President Eric Sabo to run the Micro and Small sided programs. He continued to be active on Harbors board; Vice President Operations, Vice President Administration and Harbors Premier Program Director. After ten years of volunteering on Harbors board it was time to step away and give others the opportunity to volunteer and carry the torch. He continued to coach at Harbor until 2014. This past summer he came out of retirement and to get back involved with a new executive board, TPCJSA. Curt liked the idea of our board having a lot of volunteer experience from the past as well as new. He still enjoys developing players and worked this fall with the Gig Harbor High School Girls soccer program. He was their C Team head coach. One goal he is working on is to attend club board meetings. He wants to explain to the local boards that TPCJSA is here to help while building together a healthy and safe soccer environment for our athletes, families, coaches and volunteers.

Leanne Ehnat Scholarship Fund

How do you describe Leanne Ehnat?  Pierce County native?  Soccer mom?  TPCJSA Volunteer?  TPCJSA Secretary?  WYS Volunteer?  State Tournament Director?  Field Marshall? Soccer ambassador?  Good sport?  All of the above?

Leanne took on all the jobs that no one wanted, did them with a smile… did them for “her” kids… for over twenty years.

When she passed away in the summer of 2005 at age 62, the soccer community felt a profound loss and looked for ways to honor Leanne.  She was posthumously inducted into the WSYSA Hall of Fame.  WSYSA honors her by giving away the “Leanne Ehnat Fair Play Award” for each age group at the state cups.

TPCJSA had already presented Leanne with an Outstanding Service Award.  What else could we do for Leanne?  We decided to host a U11 and U12 championship at the end of the season and call it “The Leanne Ehnat Championship”.  It did not seem like enough.

In 2006 we asked each of our clubs to commit to contributing $250 a year for five years so that we could recognize high school seniors within the TPCJSA and award Leanne Ehnat Scholarships in her memory.  They all agreed.

In establishing a budget for our current year the TPCJSA Board decided to continue our commitment to the Ehnat scholarship program by setting aside $2000 from association funds.  Clubs were no longer asked to send in contributions (although any contribution would be graciously accepted).

Applications for the yearly Leanne Ehnat Scholarships are due in April and winners will be announced soon.  Information about the application process will be posted here in February or March of the current year.
