Pierce County Soccer Association is looking for a new Games Chair. Dave Miller, was Games Chair from 1999 – 2011 then returned again for 2016 & 2017 seasons. However, his Registrar duties and other commitments at the end of August when schedules need to be generated just doesn’t allow him enough time to be the Games Chair. He will step aside this year but will help whoever comes into this position during the transition.
What is a Games Chair and what exactly are the duties involved?
The Games Chair position is an appointed position whose main responsibility is to manage the PCSA Recreational Home League. The bulk of the work is from Mid-August to the first games in September when the schedules are being generated. After that simply check in on the league and make sure the U11 & U12 age groups are updating their scores on a regular basis. The next bit of work is in December when the U11 & U12 Championship games are played and the Games Chair needs to be onsite for the Awards Ceremony.
- Manage the League for U7 – U12 Recreational teams
- Place teams into divisions geographically for U7 – U9
- Place teams into divisions based on coaches placement for U10 – U12
- Generate Schedules in Late August
- In December manage the playoffs for the U11/U12 Championships
The position also pays a small stipend of $5.00 per team in the league. The 2017/18 season had approx 170 teams just to get an idea.
Those interested in the position should contact Dave Miller email@example.com or Curt Carroll firstname.lastname@example.org as we hope to fill this position by the end of June.
